Why
America's Test Kitchen rated the Ascent X2 Recommended with Reservations: it made creamy almond butter and crushed ice well, but it "consistently left tiny pieces of uncut frozen fruits or some leafy greens in the smoothies," and because its blades sit high, "we couldn't make a single batch of mayonnaise" without doubling the recipe. The older Vitamix 5200 is ATK's winner and costs less. The X2's real advantage is a 10-year warranty (vs 7).
