Is the Shark Stratos Cordless Worth It?

TechRadar and Homes & Gardens both rated the Stratos 4.5 out of 5. TechRadar was "greatly impressed with the suction capabilities" and ranks it a top pick for homes with lots of carpet; Homes & Gardens found it "Impressive, first-pass cleaning on hard floors." Both note its weight (8.9 lb), and TechRadar adds that the newer Shark PowerDetect "promises the same suction but with added automation features" for about the same price. Both outlets also reviewed the Levoit LVAC-300, which costs far less. Homes & Gardens says it "performs similarly in many ways, but it isn't quite as powerful as the Stratos" and gave it 4 stars; TechRadar gave it 3.5 and found it "Struggles on thick carpets." Splurge if you have lots of carpet or pet hair; save if your floors are mostly hard.

TechRadar rated it 3.5 out of 5 for its "strong performance on hard floors, nippy maneuvering and excellent edge cleaning," but it "Struggles on thick carpets" and TechRadar found hair tangling around the roller. Homes & Gardens gave it 4 stars ("I wasn't expecting it to clean this well at such a low price point") and listed "No hair wrap" as a pro, so the testers disagree on tangling. Homes & Gardens' Stratos reviewer found its motorized pet tool works much like the Stratos's. It's more than 2 lb lighter than the Stratos, but has no dirt sensing and no bending wand.
