Is the Roborock Saros 20 Worth It?

Why

T3 rated the Saros 20 5 out of 5, TechRadar 4.5 and Tom's Guide 4. It climbs tall thresholds, slides under furniture without a LiDAR puck, and its dock empties the bin and washes and dries the mop pads. TechRadar was "especially impressed with its ability to pull pet hair from carpet"; Tom's Guide praised the vacuuming but says it "left several areas unmopped during a full clean of my home." TechRadar adds that "many people will be able to get away with paying less for a lower-specced machine, with very little compromise on performance." The Eufy Omni C28 also has a self-emptying, mop-washing dock and costs far less; Tom's Guide gave it the same 4 stars and T3 gave it 4. The Roborock Q7 M5 costs a fraction and got 4 stars from all three outlets, but it has a charge-only dock and a basic drag mop. Splurge if you have thick rugs, tall thresholds or lots of pet hair; save if you want a self-cleaning dock for far less.

Tom's Guide rated it 4 out of 5 and T3 4. Its dock empties the bin, washes and hot-air dries the roller mop and refills the water, like the Saros 20's, though there's no detergent tank. T3 praised the "Brilliant HydroJet roller mop" and Tom's Guide found mopping "generally great," with 94% overall in its pickup tests. The trade-offs: Tom's Guide saw "Some erratic pathfinding," its side brush doesn't extend so corners need touch-ups, and its LiDAR turret makes it taller than the Saros 20, so it fits under less furniture. It can't climb over obstacles the way the Saros 20's lifting chassis does.

Tom's Guide, TechRadar and T3 each rated it 4 out of 5. It's a basic LiDAR robot with strong suction for the price: TechRadar called its carpet test "a super solid result" and T3 says it "covers the basics incredibly well." What you give up is the dock. This version only charges, so you empty the bin and refill the tank yourself, and its fixed pad just drags a damp cloth: Tom's Guide found the mop "only good for light cleaning" and TechRadar found mopping "quite wet." Hair wrapped around the roller for both. Homes & Gardens, which didn't review the Saros 20, gave it 3.5 stars and found it "Consistently poor at cleaning hard floors."
