Why
Reviewed found the Breville "pulled ahead of the pack in every one of our tests" but still ranked the Cuisinart PerfecTemp first: "the Cuisinart earned our top spot because it's substantially cheaper while still having all the same bells and whistles." TechGearLab scored the Cuisinart slightly higher, 67 of 100 to the Breville's 65. It named the Breville Best for Teas for its accuracy at green-tea temperatures, but its cons are "Sloppy pouring, heavy, water comes in contact with a lot of plastic," and it reports that "The lid-opening mechanism on my test model was faulty and only worked about half the time." Both kettles have preset temperatures and a keep-warm mode, and they boiled within seconds of each other in TechGearLab's test.

Reviewed's Best Overall: "This kettle may not look like anything special, but it does its job exceptionally well, and at a very fair price for what it offers." It has six preset temperatures to the Breville's five and a 30-minute keep-warm mode, and Reviewed says it carries a three-year warranty. TechGearLab calls it "A quick-pouring kettle with a large capacity, a variety of presets, and a useful memory feature"; its cons there: "Small opening for filling, difficult to tell if keep warm button is on." Like the Breville, it's a pitcher-style kettle, and TechGearLab rated both poorly for precision pouring (4.0 and 3.0 of 10).
