America's Test Kitchen's top toaster: "Our favorite long-slot toaster, and our top choice overall, is the Magimix Vision Toaster." "It makes gorgeous, evenly colored toast on most settings, and its exterior stays cool," and its glass walls let you watch the bread and stop it at the shade you want. ATK's only quibble: "The settings run hot past the middle of the dial." But ATK's best conventional toaster, the GE 2-Slice, matched it for performance and speed at a fraction of the price. Splurge if you toast long artisan loaves or want to watch your toast; save if you mostly toast sandwich bread and bagels.
